Hey, mama.
You made it.
The teeth are brushed — or close enough. The pajamas are on — backwards, but on. Someone is asking for water. Someone else needs the lamp adjusted. And you... you are running on fumes.
Bedtime is not the gentle wind-down everyone pretends it is. Bedtime is a marathon at the end of a marathon. And by the time you finally close that door, you've used up every patient bone in your body.
So if you snapped tonight... if your voice got sharper than you wanted... if you said "just go to sleep" three times in a tone you didn't love...
That's not failure. That's depletion. That's a body that has been holding small humans together since 6am asking for one moment of stillness.
The day is over. You don't owe it any more performances. You don't have to be patient anymore tonight. You don't have to be cheerful or gentle or anything other than a tired mom on the other side of bedtime.
You did the hardest hours. You showed up through them.
Now... let yourself rest.
Even if just for a minute.
You are not behind. You are not failing. You are tired in the exact way a mom should be tired at the end of a long day.
You're a good mom. Even at the worst part of bedtime.
Especially then.
